Your employee’s relocation to Czechia made simple with Eres Relocation Czech Republic
When multinational companies need to temporarily move managers, specialists, or trainee employees from a branch abroad to their Czech entity, the Intra-Corporate Transfer (ICT) Card offers a streamlined way to make it happen. This EU-wide permit was created to facilitate the mobility of key personnel within international groups, while ensuring compliance with national immigration requirements.
At Eres Relocation Czechia, we regularly assist companies and their assignees through this process, helping them navigate the legal requirements, prepare complete documentation, and avoid costly delays.
Who is eligible for an ICT Card?
The ICT Card is designed for non-EU nationals who:
- Are already employed by a company or group based outside the EU
- Will be transferred to a Czech entity of the same corporate group
- Hold a role as a manager, specialist, or trainee employee
- Have been employed for at least 6 months before the transfer
Duration and conditions
- Validity: Up to 3 years for managers and specialists, or 1 year for trainees
- Purpose: Allows work and residence in Czechia for the duration of the transfer
- Family members: Can accompany the ICT holder under dependent permits
- The ICT Card is tied to the position and employer specified in the application — changes require new authorisation.
Note: The total time an ICT holder can spend in Europe is limited to 3 years. For example, if an employee works in France for 2 years under an ICT permit, they would have 1 year remaining to work in Czechia.
Mobility within the EU
One of the key benefits of the ICT scheme is intra-EU mobility. Holders of an ICT permit issued in another EU country can be posted to Czechia for short-term or long-term assignments under simplified rules — and vice versa.
Application process
The process includes:
- Submitting the application at a Czech consulate in the assignee’s home country (or in some cases, from within Czechia if eligible), which includes key documents such as an employment contract, proof of professional qualifications, and confirmation of the corporate relationship between entities;
- Waiting for approval from the Ministry of the Interior, which can take several weeks to months depending on the case.
Why work with a specialist?
While the ICT Card framework is harmonised at the EU level, local Czech requirements and documentation standards can be complex. Delays often occur due to incomplete submissions or unclear evidence of the corporate link between sending and receiving entities.
Our team at Eres Relocation Czechia ensures:
- Eligibility is confirmed before starting the process
- All documents meet the legal and format requirements
- The application is managed end-to-end, minimising risks of refusal or delay
- Peace of mind for HR, Global Mobility, and the employee through professional, reliable support
Our team can also assess if your company is eligible to be a part of any of the governmental programs which may significantly reduce the paperwork.
