Gravatar instructions

What is Gravatar?

When we place a news post on the website, the post is connected to an author. This author could be you and we would like to show your avatar that was created for you on the website as an illustration, like shown in this image –>>

Gravatar stands for “Globally Recognised Avatar” and it is used on a lot of websites and blogs. It is also used in WordPress to connect an image of yourself to your email address. When we add a user with an email address that has an gravatar connected to it it will automatically show this avatar on the website.

How do you set this up?

Please follow this step-by-step guide to add your avatar to your email address.

Some of the images might show some Dutch language in it, this is inevitable as the website recognizes my location and shows me the website in my own language. Don’t focus on these texts too much, the image will give you a general idea of how the site looks and what you need to do. My instructions are in English for you to follow.

Step 1

Visit the Gravatar website here

Step 2

Click the button “Create Your Own Gravatar”

Step 3

When you create your gravatar you also create a WordPress.com account, Gravatar is a product of the WordPress.com creators. We will not use the account for anything else than adding a profile picture.

Fill out the form:

Step 4

You will receive an email from WordPress.com to confirm your email and activate your account.

Click on the button in the email that says Activate Account.

Step 5

You will land on your profile page where you click on the image showing “Click to change Photo”.

Step 6

Crop the image to the area you wish to show and click on the button Change My Photo.

In your case it will be the avatar instead of an actual photo.

Step 7

Enter your name in the fields First Name and Public Display Name. If you want you can also add your last name, but this is not required.

After this you can save your profile and you’re all set.

No need to add or manage websites in your profile, this is all you have to do.
